A week in the life of a performance creative
[VLOG SCRIPT — VO over B-roll of desk setup, MacBook screen, edit timeline, notebook sketches. Runtime target: ~4 min.]
[OPEN — wide shot of desk, morning light, coffee, MacBook opening]
VO: People assume "creative strategist" means moodboards and vibes. Most of my week is closer to a writers' room crossed with a media buying desk. Here's what an actual week looks like.
[MONDAY — screen recording of ad account, spreadsheet of metrics]
VO: Monday starts with the numbers, not the ideas. Before I write a single new script, I'm looking at what actually worked last week — hook rate, hold rate, thumb-stop ratio. The data tells me which angle earned attention and which one just existed.
[Cut: highlighting a top-performing hook in a spreadsheet]
VO: This is the unglamorous part nobody shows. But every good creative decision this week traces back to something I saw here.
[TUESDAY — notebook, handwritten hook variants, voice memo icon]
VO: Tuesday is scripting day. I'll write fifteen, twenty hook variants for a single concept before I like any of them. Some become VSL openers, some become native ad copy, some get thrown straight in the trash by Wednesday.
[Cut: recording a rough VO take on phone]
VO: I usually record a rough voiceover pass myself, just to hear if the line sounds like a real sentence or like copywriting. If it sounds written, I rewrite it.
[WEDNESDAY — client call screenshot / calendar block]
VO: Wednesday's usually a client call. Reviewing what's live, what's about to launch, what the next testing batch looks like. Half the job is creative, half of it is just being the person who remembers what we already tried three months ago.
[THURSDAY — edit timeline, UGC clips, color grading]
VO: Thursday is edit bay day. This is where a script actually becomes an ad — pacing the cuts, finding the right pattern interrupt, making sure the first three seconds don't feel like an edit at all.
[Cut: side-by-side of raw UGC clip vs. finished cut]
VO: The difference between raw footage and a finished ad is mostly rhythm. Same words, same person, completely different result depending on where you cut.
[FRIDAY — export screen, upload to ad account, invoice doc]
VO: Friday's for shipping — exporting final cuts, uploading to the ad account, and yes, invoicing. Freelance life means the creative and the admin live in the same afternoon.
[WEEKEND — laptop closed, quick shot of Kathmandu skyline or window]
VO: Weekends I try to actually close the laptop. Doesn't always happen. But the best ideas for Monday usually show up when I'm not trying to have them.
[CLOSE — back to desk, direct to camera]
VO: That's the week. Not glamorous. Mostly repetition, testing, and paying very close attention to three seconds of footage until it earns the fourth. But that's the job — and honestly, it's the part I like most.
